Squash: Volley and Conditioned games

For the month of April, the students have been working on volleying the ball to take away time from their opponent. They have also spent a lot of time playing conditioned games which will help them with their shot selection and strategy!

Academics: IXL

We are thrilled to share that we have implemented a personalized learning platform called IXL in our program since March. With IXL, our students receive tailored recommendations on their growth areas in Math and English. Our tutors then work with the students to fill those gaps and provide personalized instruction. The software tracks the progress of our students and provides feedback to both individual students and the group. In the past six weeks, our students have answered more than 3,500 questions and made progress in 144 different skills using IXL! And of course, students still have the opportunity to work with our amazing tutors to complete their homework.

Tom sitting with SOT students

Welcome Tom!

Squash on Track is so fortunate to have Tom join our team as our new  Interim Academic coordinator. After 20 years as a marketing executive, Tom became a middle school math teacher in 2013. He taught for 10 years in public, charter, and private schools. Over the past four years, he has developed a MS math program that enables students to power their own math learning. Students identify their own gaps in understanding, set their own learning targets, and manage the process of improving their understanding. As active learners, students achieve more, feel better about their growth, and better understand the connection between effort and outcome. He lives in Palo Alto with his wife and two high school children.

Tutor of the Month: Andy, our Stalwart Support!

We celebrate Andy as our Tutor of the Month at Squash on Track! With unwavering dedication, Andy tutors every Monday and often volunteers on additional days when needed. Not only is he reliable, but Andy's genuine passion for teaching and his ability to connect with students make him a favorite among the students. His creativity, patience, and friendly approach have left a lasting impact on their learning journey. Andy, your exceptional commitment and enthusiasm are truly inspiring. Thank you for being an invaluable member of our community!

TRACK Star of the Month: Jose-Luis!

Jose-Luis’ dedication and hard work in both squash training and academics have earned him this well-deserved recognition. He is a role model for all of us, embodying the values of Teamwork, Respect, Appreciation Communication, and Kindness. Congratulations, Jose Luis, and keep up the fantastic work!

Congratulations Kelvin!

We are thrilled to announce that Kelvin, one of our SOT students, has been awarded a full academic scholarship to Keys School in Palo Alto. This incredible accomplishment is a testament to Kelvin's exceptional academic abilities, dedication, and hard work. We are immensely proud of Kelvin and know that this scholarship will open up new opportunities for his future success. Way to go, Kelvin! Your determination and achievements are an inspiration to us all.
